Organization and its Structure
The Department of Collegiate Education came into existence in the year 1957 with 13 Arts and Science Colleges under its control. As a result of the introduction of Direct Payment systems the colleges managed by various private agencies were also brought under the control of the department from 1972. Later the Administrative jurisdiction or the Department has been widened by the inclusion of Music Colleges, Training Colleges, Physical Education College and the students Hostel, attached to the Government Colleges. The
